The 5th iteration of our robot prototype(pictured below) is designed to compete in the 2023-2024 Centerstage season in the FIRST Tech Challenge robotics competition. The Centerstage game is based on scoring hexagonal game elements referred to as pixels on the backdrop, a board located in the back of the field.
The robot can intake two pixels with our active intake, which is set on horizontal linear slides that can extend up to 1.2 meters! After transferring the pixels to our output, it can flip around to the back of the robot, and can then extend upwards to score both pixels onto the backboard at the same time! At the end of the match, we launch a drone. Our drone launcher shoots our custom paper airplane 1.22 meters vertically and 3.35 meters horizontally, and lands in zone 1 65% of the time on average for max points scoring. When the match ends, our robot suspends itself off of the rigging in the center of the field utilizing our custom ratcheting suspending mechanism.
